OTHER RELATIVES:
CURRENT MATE: Third Mil: Tended to roam from bed to bed, carelessly; somewhere deep inside, she harbored a secret desire to either Recognize or fall in love--something she won't even admit to herself, forcing herself to believe she doesn't need or want such things. Fourth Mil: Rarely, if ever, gets involved with anyone, and when she does, it's serious. Sascha, briefly, and then Twill during (and likely after, if he gets off his mushroom and comes to New Hope) the Hostage Crisis.
RECOGNIZED?: No
PREVIOUS MATES: Probably half the Tower--whoever was willing.
CHILDREN: Fever, son out of Recognition with Twill
CLOSEST FRIENDS: Rhesa; often doesn't get close to others (she wouldn't allow herself to, really). Iys, to a lesser extent. In early third mil/second mil, Taywar. Rahirah, Catsclaw, other hawkriders in New Hope and the rest of Startide household.
BONDBEAST: Always bonded to a giant hawk; has had several in her lifetime.
MAGICAL TALENT: Glider. Average-good; mostly a FAST glider (goes for power rather than finesse).
SKILLS: Knows a good number of craft-type skills, such as weaving, but never applies herself to any one of them. She is a good dancer, which is sometimes the despair of those who know she won't do anything about making herself better. She falls into her best skills when it comes to hawks and hawkrider. She is GOOD at that, and she loves it. Her main ability to accept life at New Hope was the fact that she was able to continue being a hawkrider.
HOBBIES: Games well, surprisingly talented at games of chance (unknowingly a card-counter). Exercise. She keeps herself in taut good shape. Weights, swimming, running, anything that focuses her mind and body together.
WEAPONS: Spear, talon-whip, other hunting weapons.JEWELRY: Loves swinging, dangling earrings; the more they jingle, the better. Likes things that sparkle and hine -- shamelessly attracted to gaudy, bright, big jewels -- things that catch the light. Would wear a chandelier if she could figure out how to do so. Rings, necklaces, ruby-in-the-belly-button, the works when she's dressed up. Terribly tasteless and proud of it.
CLOTHING: Third Mil: Tight, revealing, low-cut bosom, high-cut skirts, tight leather with studs; favorite shades are blues and blacks, LOOKS best in corals, reds, and golds. Her flight leathers are usually blue or charcoal-grey, revealing but able to cover in case of cold weather (practical when she needs to be), often studded, and her Declared badge is shaped like a rising sun, with a perched hawk standing on a rock outcropping silhouetted in gold set with rubies. Fourth Mil: Practical, solid, work clothes. Sascha made some steps in attempting to get her taste in fancy clothes to improve, but she still likes "sparklies."PERSONALITY/HISTORY:
Chimreh was ignored pretty much roundly by her mother and never knew who her father was, and as such grew up insecure and frightened, tending to cling to Rhesa, her older sister who raised her. Her insecurities made her see herself as something much less than she was, and so gradually learned to overcompensate for her shyness by being loud and brash; a brashness that got her in trouble in her very early teens at a rowdy Tower party. She never knew how she got so drunk or exactly what happened, but she woke up bruised and aching with blood on her legs and the marks of straps and other, less recognizable things on her--deeply shamed by the incident, Chimreh closed herself up deep inside herself. Believing that she had done something to deserve such treatment, she began to actively seek it out, going to the worst parties and getting as drunk as she could, then seeking out the most dangerous of partners, inviting their abuse. It was more attention than she had ever received from parents she barely knew, and she told herself she enjoyed it so often that, after many years, she came to believe it.
Still, somehow she wanted to be accepted as a person above the parties and the sex--and she chose to enter the hawkrider training program. Her pride in herself at actually being chosen as Declared was enormous and for a long time thereafter she took greater pride and confidence in herself before eventually backsliding into her old ways. However, as Declared, she was fiercely loyal to the Tower and to Lord Tyaar and his chain of command. She would never do anything to cross or anger them--she doesn't extend such niceties to anyone else. She will cut or cross anyone else in the Tower and give no thought to the consequences. This became more and more noticeable after Taywar's suicide, which changed her subtly enough that few people traced it back to that particular incident--before her changes, she and Taywar had a surprisingly large amount of things in common, and enjoyed each other's company while she was in the cadets; he was, like Rhesa, someone she could speak to without feeling she was being judged. Torn between her horror at his "treason" and the loss of her good friend, she eventually talked herself into believing that his death actually had little or no affect on her at all, but if anyone really studied her changes a lot could
be traced back to this point.
She was, in Third Mil, often carelessly cruel--mostly because she gave little thought to her actions--and didn't see or understand when she hurts others because she was so hurt by the world. Always trying fiercely to compensate for what she sees as her lack of height or lack of skills by trying out everything--weaving, dancing, singing, instrument making, jewelry making, embroidery; she showed true talent at dancing, but never followed through by taking the necessary time to practice and improve. Stung by comments she heard about herself, but completely oblivious to the fact that she brought it on herself--she merely believes that she is unworthy, and therefore behaves so.
She often feels that the only person in the world that loves her is Rhesa and doesn't realize that this is because people only see her outside while Rhesa is aware that there is something still of the old, fragile, and frightened Chimreh under her harsh, vicious exterior.
After her Exile from the Tower, Chimreh undergoes a startling transformation, coming slowly but surely back to the girl she was before things went wrong, and before Taywar died. Her first break through to that full scale return was a brief, but passionate (and surprisingly emotional, for her) fling with Sascha. She fell in love--he didn't. She started feeling more and more like her old self again.
She is still brash and outspoken, but with more of a sense of humor about herself and about the world around her. She has learned to fit in at New Hope, and, to her surprise, she enjoys it. During the Hostage Crisis, she found herself one of the "level-headed" ones, and despite the horrors, came out of the entire thing somewhat stronger, and much more sure of herself.
