As a person Evanda is cheerful and generally disarming. She likes people genuinely (with a few exceptions), though, during the worst part of the Third Millennium, there was only a handful of intimate, trusted friends with whom she felt completely safe. She is on good terms with the majority of the Tower denizens (although as the Third Mil continued, this altered). She is not shy, and enjoys conversing and listening. She does not pry for information as a rule, unless she absolutely has to, finding that most of what she needs to know will find its way to her. She is honest and trustworthy and disapproves of dishonesty in others, tho' in most case grudges are not held, and her anger almost always arises from frustration and is hard to incite.
She is fond of the pleasures of the senses, from erotic pleasures to the simple joy of the sight and smell of the woods in summer (which she misses, and goes to as often as she can once she moves to New Hope). She is intellectual without being academic, taking more interest in philosophy of sorts, though she is more a creature of heart than of head.
She does have periods of reclusiveness, and as things get worse during the Third Millennium they become more frequent, and her behavior more erratic and flighty. She can be selfish, but it is not generally an obvious trait, another thing that becomes more evident as the Tower gets worse.
She likes to experiment with different hobbies and takes up projects as they tickle her fancy ("Oh, that's neat, can you teach me?"). As a result, her quarters contain an eclectic variety of hangings, candles, figurines, and myriad handcrafts of her own creation. She finds people and social situations fascinating, and will watch without interacting for hours at a time, and has perfected the art of evaporating--disappearing unnoticed--when discretion requires. Her sexual inclination is toward the opposite sex, although she has, at times, found certain females appealing. Under most circumstances, she liked to view joining as an expression of close friendship; she would be uncomfortable using it as a means of coercion or to gain favor. She is not much of a field player, and tends to keep to one lover/lovemate at a time, and stays away from orgies in general.
She tries to treat the human servants with respect, and discourages awe and worship. She goes out of her way to form friendships with those that wind up as her servants. In the Third Mil, she had little contact with their social activities and personal lives; her new life in New Hope brought her a nearness and an understanding that she found quite interesting and enjoyable. The new life was harder than the Tower, but certainly no harder than life had been in the Old Settlement, and she found herself enjoying it tremendously.
Her opinions of trolls are based on the individual; as a whole she considers them as having many of the same problems that the elves in the Tower had. As for preservers, well, they serve their purpose, but one could certainly do without them (although she'd never tell Piet that, and risk hurting his feelings).
Moving out of the Tower was difficult, but not as difficult as staying there had become. She greatly misses the friends she left behind and frequently goes to visit. She likes the changes that have been wrought there--on the whole--and, towards the end of her life, realized that the bad memories were going, and she could live there again... but she couldn't just keep running away from memories. Life was harsh everywhere, and there was no place that was ever going to be "safe." She felt sorry for Geibryl, who lived in fear of the Outside, went anyway, and died; she hurt for everyone who ran away from the Tower just because of those memories, like herself, and if, in the end, she'd been allowed to live, she could have found a great deal more peace with herself and her surroundings.
