Other information:

Flare is off-key, off-color, a swaggerer, a bounder and randy as several tomcats. He's perfectly capable of exquisite manners -- but would much rather stride (note; strides, never saunters) into New Hope singing "Sit on my face and tell me that you luuuuuuuuuuve me, I'll sit on your face and tell you I love yeeewwww too..."  (absolutely no apologies to Monty Python)

Bold, aggressive, energetic, and courageous; brash, rude, and inconsiderate; impulsive, very competitive, and often seems arrogant, domineering, and intolerant. Responds to the world through action, rather than practicality, intellect, or emotion; bubbles over with life and energy to such an extent he is rarely curbed within the bounds of safety and common sense. Self-reliant but also self centered and concerned with his own personal advancement and physical satisfaction to the point of greed.  Turbulent and radical in all his thoughts, ideas and actions. He is venturesome, impulsive and reckless to the verge of foolhardiness; aggressive and restless, argumentative, headstrong, quick tempered, easily offended and definitely capable of holding a grudge. Can't abide anyone he thinks is too uptight and straightarrow, and capable of evolving elaborate plots to take the starch out of 'em. ("They'll thank me later.")

Loaded with enough testosterone for a roomful of weasels in rut.  Many people's reaction to "Flare Has Returned!" is a roll of the eyes and (as Raventongue puts it) **Oh, High Ones. Lock up your lifemates, your daughters, your mothers, the sheep and the housecats!** Will cheerfully screw just about anything that moves (though he is a top, thankee kindly)...unlike his younger brother who is pretty well heterosexual and race specific. For Flare there is only one kind of sex and that is pure sex, no thinking, no commitment, no program; just an impulse that can and usually does happen anywhere. Maintains a Don Juan-like counting of his conquests.

Welcomes challenges and will not be diverted from his purpose save by his own impatience. A courageous leader with a genuine concern for those he commands, though will not hesitate to use subordinates to obtain his current objective. Seldom defeated because he simply does not recognize defeat; cheerfully trods where angels fear to tread. Whistling.

Frank, direct and candid; an enthusiastic, staunch and generous friend, though one with a tendency to ride roughshod over others' sensitivities. Loves the "rush" he gets from extremes -- physical, emotional and mental. Quick-witted but sometimes foolhardy and over-optimistic, lacking the thoroughness to plan ahead. Lives in an eternal present, where tomorrow is a long time away, next year is almost impossible to believe, and yesterday doesn't matter any more.

At his worst Flare is hasty, inconsiderate, brash, destructive, arrogant, presumptous and domineering, with a hot temper. Take him on his own terms or not at all. Enjoys no hobby more than embarrassing the hell out of Seahawk (and damn, is he good at it!). The privilege, however, is not extended to others in his presence.

Has a rather incredible capacity for alcohol and intoxicants. A born gambler and good at it. Not only naturally good at statistics, but well learned in many forms of cheating.  Trades with (or thieves from) a variety of groups, including some on the eastern continent. Always seems to have something interesting to barter.

Part of what made Seahawk what he became; i.e. the courtly speech, the mannerly etceteras, was backlash from Flare; he went through a stage of hero-worshiping his elder brother, then realizing that Flare's ways weren't right for him (possibly because he was already soulbonded to Raventongue, which was somewhat of a balance, and because he did have more stability at home than Flare ever did)...going overboard the other way...and liking it. (Still, Flare does know every button to push...in the way siblings do. And vice versa.) Raventongue went through much the same thing vis-a-vis Seahawk, in his turn...and spun out in yet another direction.

Flare wishes Raventongue hadn't "civilized" Seahawk, and Raventongue (especially when younger) worried about Flare's wild influence on his soulbrother. As Seahawk matured, this transmuted into a certain wary respect on both sides. Flare really doesn't know what to make of his brother's quadbonding...and it itches at him trying to figure what, if anything, has changed between Seahawk and his soulbrother when the lights go out.

Dove and Feather are both fond of Flare and tolerant of/amused by his follies. (Mostly.) Flare is fond of them in return, but no longer hits on either one. It's not exactly that he sees them as inviolate because they're his brother's lifemates. It's more that Seahawk has explained to him...in sending...that if Flare doesn't keep his mitts off, Seahawk will personally dismember him. (Raventongue didn't bother. For one thing, he isn't the jealous type. For another, he's confident that if Flare pushes either Feather or Dove too far, the only help anyone will want from him will be shoveling the remains into the nearest compost heap.)
