Personal Info: Longshanks is a responsible elf, practical and
levelheaded, independent though not a loner by nature, rather serious
but with a deadpan sense of humor. He has a strong sense of fairness
and a hatred of seeing anyone or anything caged. He is not easily
angered, but once roused, he can hold a grudge for a long time if he has
a good reason for it.
One of the three companions of Piet in his wanderings of the world
(including his sojourn in Tower Mountain), Longshanks was one of the
original New Hope settlers. When he Recognized Shalamar, of a
visiting Rover band, the Plainsrunner elf had to do some serious thinking
about his priorities and relationships; the wandering life of the Rovers
suited his native inclination much better than the settled life of New
Hope, but going with them would mean leaving Piet, whom he loved almost
as a son. He eventually settled on a compromise by which he divided his
time between the Rovers and New Hope while his son, Jublo, was growing
up; nowadays Longshanks may take an occasional jaunt with the Rovers, but
spends most of his time at New Hope.
Longshanks has always been a fairminded elf who allowed as there were humans and humans, and who tended to judge anyone by their actions. He is guarded around strangers, and his respect and trust must be earned, but other races are capable of earning it as well as elves -- though it may be harder for them. He gets along well with the inhabitants of New Hope. He tolerates preservers with a certain dogged determination.
Longshanks lovemated with Desertbloom of the Brightcolor Desert elves
some years after the Hostage Crisis, and adopted her daughter, Dream.
