So you want to join the Tower...


 

Joining Tower Mountain is simple--just write to our new members coordinator. The address is:

and ask for information about subscriptions and membership. Tower Mountain offers two types of membership. The first type is a reader's membership. One year's subscription includes four issues of Tales; back issues are available. A reader's membership entitles you to create characters in the human tribe, the Mraal.
The second type of membership is the contributor's membership. Only members with a contributor's membership are allowed to have living elf characters in the Tower. Contributor's memberships are slightly less money, and also include four issues of Tales.. However, contributor's memberships must be earned.
 

How to earn and maintain a contributor's membership:

  • Writers: One story per year of publishable quality. Length is not a criterion (although we'd prefer that you warn us in advance if you're sending us something the size of War And Peace) but good plot and characterization are. Vignettes do not count towards this requirement.
  • Artists: One piece of artwork suitable for a newsletter cover, plus the commitment to illustrate one story, per year. Backgrounds are desirable in cover art, and we prefer that two or more characters be used in the picture. We have no problem with two-person art teams, but those who send "pencils only" or would rather "ink only" should plan on doubling the above-stated requirement.
  • Uniques: Contributor's memberships may be earned in other ways-- one member, for example, earned his by drawing maps and geneological charts.
