rockshaping.
WEAPONS:  Has probably been taught to use a bow and a little bit of
knife-fighting.  Not a warrior by temperament.
JEWELRY: A few simple pieces in gold and silver.  Doesn't wear much.
OUTFIT MOST OFTEN WORN:  Likes to dress well when possible.  Prefers classic simplicity to anything flashy.  Preferred colors blacks and dark
blues with white, silver, or pale blue accents.  Likes to look his best.

PERSONALITY/HISTORY:  Always rather solemn, even as a child.  The sort of child who likes to play "real" things; give him blocks and he'll build a
bridge -- suggest he build a monster and he'll inform you that "monsters
aren't =real.="  Not a rowdy or unmanageable child.  A bit too much the
other way, if anything.  Well-behaved himself, in general, and rather
unforgiving of his playmates who aren't.  Bit of a "George Washington and
the cherry tree" tendency, which was not always appreciated by the other
children in the settlement.

No patience for foolishness or frivolity, or for wasting time on things or
people he perceives as such.  Immensely practical when he has a definite
goal in mind.  An intensely private person in some ways, not given to
public displays of affection, and greatly embarrassed by people who are,
especially any of his parents.  Not at all unemotional, though -- quite
the reverse.  Takes everything desperately seriously.  Life is real, life
is earnest, and all that -- how can you be happy when there are children
starving in Taiakaari sweatshops?  Idealistic and prone to Causes.  He has a deep appreciation of natural beauty, and fancies himself something of a poet.  The subject matter may get a bit overwrought, and the language shade into the purple at times (at least in his earlier efforts), but the rhymes will rhyme and the scansion will scan.

Self-directed.  A perfectionist in his work.  Incapable of sitting around;
has to be doing something useful, though it doesn't have to be physical --
he far prefers mental exertion, in fact.  Definitely shaping up to be a
scholar.  Hates being embarrassed or made to look foolish.  This can lead him to be intolerant of people he thinks don't take life (or him) seriously enough, or to appearances of coldness -- always momentary, as reserve usually
gives way to Dramatic Contempt or Despair.

When he falls in love it's One and True.  Can be almost scarily intense in his devotion to his current lovemate.  More apt to look for a meeting of souls in a lovemate than a hot bod; extremely romantic (in the original sense of the word) and passionate, though the passion is as often intellectual as physical.  Monogamous by nature and can be jealous if his partner doesn't reciprocate (though he is rather ashamed of this).

During adolescence, despairs of both parents regularly -- loves them dearly, but They Just Don't Understand.  (Mother, at least, knows how to dress, but is a social disaster otherwise.  And what good is she doing poking around in caves?  Father's a naif, and if you heard what he said to Ranya of Whistleleaf at the last gather you'll understand I'm going to have to wear a bag over my head in public for the rest of my life . . .  And Rahirah -- she =taps her feet to the music,= for heavens' sakes!)

As he gets older (partly in consequence of realizing how unpopular total uncompromising honesty can make one) becomes very much aware of social relationships and his place in them.  A perfectionist in that area as well; always knows the right thing to say in any situation.  Skilled with words, and in reading people, something he's practiced diligently because he often feels the need to "translate" for mom and dad -- even though he'sthe only one  who really feels uncomfortable half the time.  As Methyr gets older, his Odd Couple friendship with Dilan (initially the result of their shared interest in poetry) and his lovemating with Anja mellows him out a bit, and a brush with Tower intrigue in the form of a clash with Sarisa matures him a great deal--he gets a first-hand look at the consequences of unbridled idealism.

Methyr is deeply interested in philosophy and politics, and studies both intensely, though as yet he's more interested in theory than practice.

Humans:  They are Tragic, because they have such short lives.  Sometimes the emotional agony his appreciation of their Tragedy causes makes him incapable of seeing them as people, especially during the years when the humans he grew up with start getting old and dying.  (To some extent this is a defense mechanism; Gerrel's death was extremely hard on him.  As he gets older he grows out of it.  He gets along well with humans and has a great interest in working out the intricacies of gaining and losing =bakhan=.)

Trolls:  Trolls have their own social game . . . it's just that it's so different from the elves' and humans' that most of them can't see it for what it is.  Rather likes them.

Preservers:  Please . . . make them go away.  I'm not THREE anymore!
