Personal Info: Mijacogeo, usually called Mijo, was born in Tower Mountain, the out-of-Recognition son of Vallaree and Bugdance. For the first near-century of his life his existence was kept secret from all but a few inhabitants of Tower Mountain. For most of that time he lived with Widget, joining in on the renegade rockshaper's life of pranks and pilfering. He escaped from the Tower along with Mikail, Nalkor and Chenir in TWR 1178 and eventually came to New Hope with the original colonists.
In NH 3 he made the acquaintance of Lorelee, daughter of Merek and Nennali, and the two of them became lovemates and fast friends. When he asked to ship with Lorelee and her parents aboard Voyager, however, he was refused by Merek, who claimed he didn't need any landlubbers aboard his ship. When Calypso and the Cowrie arrived and began to take on apprentices, Mijo was one of the first to volunteer. At the end of his apprenticeship in NH 20 he again requested a berth on Voyager. Merek, out of excuses and under pressure from both lifemate and daughter, agreed to take him on (not without quite a lot of grumbling). Currently Mijo ships either on Voyager or Cowrie, but has plans to build a ship of his own to go exploring in.
Mijo recalls his father, Bugdance, in many ways; he's extraverted, talkative, hyperactive, and loves to play tricks on all and sundry. He talks tough but is actually quite sensitive and perceptive. As a general rule, the people he loves most are the ones he teases most unmercifully. He likes to think he's strong and clever enough to handle anything life throws his way; often he's right, but there are some definite gaps in his experience. For instance, the first few times he saw anyone die were major shocks, and the first time he was forced to kill anyone it took him days to get over it. Despite the "pirate" image he cultivates (in common with the rest of Voyager's crew), he really does not like killing or even hurting people and would much rather pull off a bloodless deception or distraction. Fortunately he's very good at these, having had decades of practice in Tower Mountain under one of the best teachers available.
Like his father, Mijo is made for lovemates. He's very fond of Lorelee and she is his only permanent lovemate, but that doesn't prevent him from fooling around on the side when the opportunity arises. Outwardly Lorelee makes a big fuss about this, but both of them know it's just a game. The two of them are really more best friends who just happen to like to have sex together, than lovers in the true sense. You just try to get Merek to believe that, however!
Mijo had a little trouble coming to think of humans and trolls as people, since they were foils so long in the Tower. He had even more trouble realizing that either race could be really dangerous. It took a few hard lessons to get that concept through the boy's head. He has Bugdance's general attitude toward preservers -- they're great fun as long as their tricks aren't directed at him.
