Other information: Seahawk is strongly theatrical in nature (at times, other members of the holt wonder if he honestly believes himself to be larger than life), somewhat of a daredevil and a showoff, and likes nothing better than a good audience. One -- or perhaps several -- of his favorite tales is one from his youth: the time Raventongue and Windrunner dared him to swipe me sacred totem stone out of the local human village. The major facts are verifiable: he got into the village, he stole the stone, he displayed it around the tribe, and then he put it back. How he did it has remained a major secret ever since. Not that Seahawk doesn't tell the story. He just never tells it the same way twice. Even Raventongue has never heard the true tale, although Seahawk has attempted to tell it to him on two separate occasions. Both times circumstances interrupted the telling.)
Fortunately, he usually has the abilities on hand to back up his boasts (he's just never been one to hide his light under a bushel). Overconfidence has nearly led to his death more than once. Oddly enough for such an egotist, he is totally blind to hero-worship, emulation, or adoration of his self; he is simply unable to see it for what it is.
Terribly persuasive, can sling the blarney as well as anyone (witness the building of his third boat, the Gliding Hawk, constructed with help from half the tribe -- e.g. the story of Tom Sawyer whitewashing the fence). Has a talent for taking even the most far-flung ideas seem reasonable.
Recognition has probably been the single factor that has shaped him the most since young adulthood. Before his Recognition he was footloose and fancy-free, enjoying his freedom thoroughly and loving as many of the ladies as would put up with him, Subconsciously he was deathly afraid that Recognition and lifemating would restrict him, limit him, force him to deny himself, change him irrevocably. After discovering that Feather had no intention of 'putting chains on him” he unknowingly forged them himself. Though he has remained an incorrigible flirt, he is devoted to his lifemate, and his daughter has had him twisted around her little finger since babyhood. (He also still, after all these turns, has utmost respect for Feather's temper.)
If he can’t talk, he’ll send. Rare is the occasion that he willingly remains quiet for long. Dislikes admitting that he has any true, deep or serious feelings; tends to "cover up' with a wild, flamboyant, jovial attitude. His flamboyancy is largely an act designed to keep others at arm's-length. It is somewhat difficult for even his soulmates to persuade him to talk out his problems.
Not terribly patient by nature.
Regards friendship and his word as sacred, and lives by a strict (though unspoken) code of honor. Feels that life -- any life --is sacred. Generous -- sometimes overly so. Expert at reading body language -- when he bothers. Uncomfortable around and rather embarrassed by, displays of violent emotion (except love).
Possesses a gift for languages, and picked up the human language as a child. Speaks the language with the same accent as the Tribe without Name, a human tribe native to the Great Water area, Where once he regarded the human race with contempt, he long ago befriended a human chieftain named Stick who changed his entire attitude towards humans.
Although his far-sight Manifested when he was 'merely a callow youth' his gliding Talent did not surface until shortly before the founding of New Hope. It was at about this time that he bonded (largely by accident) with one of the giant hawks of Tower Mountain.
