their full extent. Dove thinks that in time they will equal or better her
own Talents,
particularly the sending/sensing aspects. Naturally a "broad-band"
healer with strong sensitivities (she got a certain range of her blood
father's empathic abilities), able to heal sufficiently receptive members
of any
species (including humans). Note: Suffers a psychosomatic blockage
of her magic circa NH 290, and is thereafter unable to use it effectively.
TBD
when/if this problem clears up.
Skills:Wide variety of practical skills, strong aptitudes for tracking
and herbalism.
Hobbies:Symbol-making, in many media; excellent dancer, competent musician.
Weapons used:Knives (either thrown or used in hand-to-hand combat)
and/or Talent. Has been drilled, as well, in improvisation. Too empathic
to like killing much, but raised to be pragmatic about it if the need should
ever fall to her. (**You do what you have to. You barf afterwards if you
have to.**)
Bondbeast: None, but gets along well with animals and usually has at
least one pet. Has been dragging injured animals home for TLC since she
was very young.
Clothing: Bright colors and patterns, the wilder the better. Favors
off-one-shoulder loose tunics ("Flashdance"-style) of various sleeve lengths
and types, worn with pants and boots in colder weather. Not terribly fond
of shoes but hates cold or wet feet.

Other information:
Snowflower's parentage is rather tangled,
but the circumstances are both an open secret and a closed one. To
people outside of a certain circle Snowflower is simply the second child
of Dove and Raventongue's lifemating, and nothing more need ever be said
of the matter. The more perceptive might observe that while she looks little
at all like Raventongue, she has a rather pronounced resemblance to Piet.
The truth is that Piet (aka Halfwise) is her biological father, though
at the time of Snowflower's conception Lord Tyaar of Tower Mountain was
inhabiting Piet's body. Upon learning of his lifemate's pregnancy, and
being advised of the circumstances, Raventongue promptly adopted the child
as his own.
Snowflower has grown up knowing that both Raventongue and Piet are
her fathers (and regarding most of the other children as somewhat underprivileged
for only having one). However, the rest of the truth is only known to a
very small group of people and rarely if ever discussed. Snowflower herself
was not told the entire story until she was old enough to put certain facts
together for herself and question the circumstances of her heritage.
Due to her parents' resettlement at New Hope Snowflower has largely been raised there, albeit with frequent visits to Great Water Holt (Raventongue's birth holt, a "normal" forest holt) and Wolfgang (another "normal" forest holt, populated mostly by wolfbloods), the birth holt of her soulsister Stillmorn. She feels equally at home in the cultures of forest holt and New Hope, and plans an extended stay in Tower Mountain at some unspecified time in the future. (Actually she'll visit, but will never stay for long. She'll finds the authoritarian attitudes and general inflexibility stifling and infuriating. And having servants makes her crazy: "Don't do that! I can hang up my own clothes! What do you think I am, crippled?" "But Honored One...")
She adores Piet and reveres Dove (who is alent-mentor as well as mother), but maintains a special, strongly affectionate relationship with Raventongue (she enjoys teasing her adoptive father, and they can often be found verbally bantering or engaging in battles of wit; she also flirts with him--mercilessly, and much to Dove's amusement / Raventongue's exasperation).
Both heritage and environment have done their share to shape Snowflower.
By
looks and Talent she is very much the child of Dove and Piet (with
a boost in Talent that may have been provided by Tyaar) in personality
she bears
Raventongue's strong influence -- charismatic, possessed of a strong
mind and will, and with a decided tendency to speak her mind before she
thinks.
Snowflower is naturally friendly and energetic; she laughs easily and often. Somehow she always seems to land right in the middle of the action (usually, it may be noted, as the instigator). Whatever she is involved in, she gets involved to the utmost, and she is naturally given to excess. By nature she is warm, generous, capable of great fellowship and devotion, willing to do almost anything for a friend. She enjoys competition, finding it a healthy outlet for her aggressiveness and energy.
Has a strong constitution and an amazing vitality -- always the last one to tire, well able to fight off fatigue. Leads a somewhat disorderly life and has no idea what it means to keep "regular habits".
Like the plant that is her namesake (snow roses), Snowflower is at once
lovely to behold and difficult to hold (at least without getting pricked).
Has a heavily passionate nature; loves with her whole being, and expects
her devotion to be returned in kind. Seductive. Rarely without a current
"someone special". Requires a fair amount of emotional indulgence from
a lovemate. Hers is hardly the calmest of love-lives, but it is a vital
and intense one. Plunges into romance with reckless abandon; something
more permanent may have to result from Recognition. If then.
Can apply clear logic to any situation...and at the same time either have unswerving belief in the happy ending or create one of her own. Can't be bossed around; has a stubborn, independent streak. Will take on a "cause" with blind devotion, believing firmly that possibilities outweigh the shortcomings. Restless. Really hates sitting still.
Snowflower is intensely intuitive--as befits the offspring of a strong healer and a scanner--and unconsciously depends strongly on her "inner voice" for guidance. She understands the strength of her intellect on a more conscious level, and Raventongue raised her to make the most of these gifts. Her mind is elastic and highly analytic; she generally has no trouble seeing either the "big picture" or how the details fit into it. Also, she is very alert as to what is to happen next; always sensitive to possibilities, always questioning, always trying to keep her options open. However, due to her tendency towards hasty action, she has been known to "rush things" and tumble headlong into ill-considered evaluations and judgments.
Will always be a little outspoken, just as the Great Water will always
be a little damp. Feels much more comfortable being honest; some would
say brutally honest. Snowflower's honesty is ever free of deliberate malice;
this is not to say she's always tactful. ("Well, hey, if you didn't want
an honest answer, you shouldn't have asked.") Not fond of pretense or deception.
If for some reason either is needed, much more apt to lie by omission than
commission.
