Sudu stays in new Hope for several years, studying astral projection with Piet. Like Tyvek and Kanwar, an emigrant from Godling's Reach who didn't feel he fit in there. Unlike either of them, he would probably have been content to stay there anyway and pursue his interior explorations (his status, or lack of same, doesn't particularly bother him), if it were not for the ties of friendship and, more urgently, the recent surfacing of his advanced sending abilities. On the practical level, he wants training for his these abilities, especially his astral projection; on the philosophical level, he feels constrained by the rather rigid Reach outlook and wants to find out more about how other people see the world.
Deeply interested in ethics; ready to question =any= assumption and see how far he can push it.
In personality, Sudu is quiet and soft-spoken, with a =very= understated sense of humor that you can miss if you blink. Even-tempered and cheerful for the most part; on the rare occasions he gets angry, it's a cold, silent anger. When he's hot on the trail of an idea, he becomes. . . intense.
For him, beekeeping is a practical metier; baking, both that and a way
to unwind, as is flower gardening. Music is an aid to contemplation,
though he can be persuaded to do it for pleasure too; his favored instrument
is something akin to a psaltery. He keeps up a regimen of exercise
as a form of self-discipline and to keep his body in trim; he'll probably
pick up the Taiakaari katas as an alternative to whatever he was using
before.
